Goto options | Blue Nomad and Quik Sense Software's WordSmith is yet another Palm OS add-on, which is soon to become an indispensable part of my Palm. I must apologize, but calling WordSmith an add-on doesn't give it nearly enough credit. WordSmith is one of the most functional word processors yet to be introduced to the PalmOS, as well as an enhanced memo-pad and an E-book reader. All this can be accessed from the touch of your Memo-pad button. As a word-processor, it is possible to synchronize with documents in Microsoft Word with very few limitations. Most all formatting options available in Word have been made available in WordSmith making it a fully featured word processor for the Palm. You can convert and upload fonts from your PC, and, on PDAs with high-resolution screens, documents are more crisp and clear than ever! This is due to WordSmith's new FineType Technology which enables anti-aliased fonts to be displayed on the Palm. These same features are available in Memo-pad, which is only a Tab away from the Document viewer/editor. In addition to the most common word-processor editing features, there are many viewing features such as variable speed scrolling and enhanced “Go-to ..” functions. Finally, gone are the days of cutting and pasting documents into my Memo-pad, only to have vital information truncated off the end. The next version of WordSmith will also include VFS support, meaning that it will support the new SD/MMC slots on the Palm m500 series handhelds. Also included in an upcoming release will be support for creating/editing tables on the handheld, a much requested feature by many Palm users. If you find yourself wanting to read/create/edit documents while "on the go", WordSmith will be the last word processor for the Palm you ever look at. Spend one day with WordSmith and you'll get rid of all the other document editors from your Palm!
