| TealPhone is a far better alternate to the Palm Address Book. The first impression was a little cluttered. This is because of the A-Z index list along the LHS. Tap on the letter and it jumps to the first entry in that letter. At the top of the view is the display screen which shows the phone number in big bold font, directly underneath it tells you whether the number is a home, work, fax, mobile or other phone number. To the immediate right are three icons - phone number, e-mail address, and address. Tap on one of those and it displays the respective info the icon represents. To me this is the key difference between TealPhone and Address Book. In Address book you have to tap on the entry to display the info. TealPhone lets you see the info and the list at the same time. Whether this good or bad depends on your preferences. I like it as it save me 'tap' time. Immediately below the display screen is the list. Tap on the name in the list and info is displayed at the top. Names can be sorted alphabetically by first, last or company name. If there is no company than the name defaults to the last name. There is a Controls and a Preferences checklist that allow to turn off or on features. The alphabet index on the LHS can be turned off to make the look less cluttered. Entries with only a first, last or company name only can be treated as any so that it gets list alphabetically and not way down at the bottom. As well the four custom fields can be retitled to whatever you wish. An option to add a scroll bar to the left of the list is possible too. Immediately at the bottom are more icons that allow you to sort alphabetically by last, first or comapny name, search, open an entry or create a new one, change fonts or move up or down the list of entries. Entering a new entry or editing an existing one is similar to the regular address book with the same fields. One difference is the direct number entry keyboard at the bottom. Tap on the numbers directly to instead of using graffitti to enter them. Also a neat backspace icon. One feature I really like is the Clone Entry feature. If you have many people at the same address/company, this will save you time. Simply clonethe first entry and TealPhone immediately goes tothe edit entry view of the cloned entry. Change whatever you need to change, keep the rest and you are done. Repeat this as many times as you need to. When you register, as with all TealPoint software, the annoying "please register - tap to continue" display at the begining and the register button at the top of the views all disappear. Overall, a great little product. |
