| Handspring created much interest and polarized opinions when the original Visor line of organizers introduced in the fall of 1999. Many PDA users embrace the open source springboard slot while others groaned at an expansion slot supported only by Handspring and a few springboard developers. Just as much diversity of opinion surrounded the snap on cover. Some folks found it clumsy, awkward to snap on the back, easy to misplace not to mention a hot sync could not be performed with the snap on cover in place. Others, like myself had no problem with the snap on cover supplied by Handspring. Then along came a replacement cover from FlipCover for $19.97 USD. This cover should please anyone who doesn't like the Handspring supplied snap on cover or bulky cases. FlipCover will fit the whole Visor line except for the Visor Edge. Due to its thicker body, the Visor Prism has a its own FlipCover with a longer hinge. The FlipCover is comprised of a springboard slot cover, connected to a hinge and cover that secures in the retention slots on the serial connector. Also, the FlipCover opens from the bottom a more intuitive way of taking the cover off. With practice you can draw off the flip cover like a gunslinger from the old west using only on hand. Check out http://www.flipcover.com/info/info.htm for some examples of how to hone your one handed technique. Once the FlipCover is open it swing around to lie flush against the back of your Visor. If your preferred method of entering graffiti is while your Visor is placed on a flat surface, swing open the FlipCover only 180 degrees. To Hot Sync just unsnap the bottom of the FlipCover to place your Visor in the cradle. So if the FlipCover uses the springboard slot you may be asking… Can the FlipCover be used with springboard modules? It sure can. Only a minor modification is required. FlipCover.com has all the info you need for the modification using their adapter. An acquaintance of mine has modified his Prism and his 16 meg springboard this way with no complaints. If your springboard module extends beyond the dimension of the Visor adapting the FlipCover to fit isn't possible. Also you can pick the colour to accessorize your FlipCover with your Visor in the following hues, Graphite, Blue, Green, Ice, and Orange. The Prism FlipCover is available in Prism Blue, Black and Ice. Overall I really enjoyed the ease of use and was very impressed with the engineering of the FlipCover.
