Highlights

Happy anniversary.  Happy anniversary.   Happy anniversary.  Haaaaaapy anniversary.  Happy, happy, happy, happy, OK alright already.  Just so that you know Canada's Premier PUG as just had it's one year anniversary meeting.

One year ago eight Piloteers went into a Pizza Hut to look for the Palm User Group.  They never came back the same.  A year later they did it again.  Well, actually they did once or twice a month.

Gaming:

Games, games, games, games were the topic of the meeting.   Did I mention the ... Oh! I guess I did.

Sean handed out a diskette with 93 freeware games to each attendee.  This was a nice surprise for everyone.  Thank you Sean.

Sean and Rob gave an impromptu demo of IR Pong.  Well, when I say demo I mean they were just goofing around but it just happened to fit into the topic.  A game that is played on two different Palm units with the IR port (hence the name).   The response time is quite amazing virtually instantaneous.   There are other IR games available, such as IR Checkers, IR Battleship.  (Not sure if these are the correct names though).

Attendance

This month, we had 7 members at the Wednesday meeting and 7 members at the Saturday meeting. Two new members join us at the Wednesday meeting.

John Cosentini has a fascination with Palm.  He takes them apart, modifies them by adding features that don't exist (i.e. AC adapter, etc..).  You could say he is "Q" for our little organization.  It doesn't hurt that he rides a Harley Davidson (lookalike}. John's website is accessible at http://web.cgocable.net/~seco/pilot/index.htm, where you will find all kinds of nifty things.

Kim is a newbie when it comes to the Palm.  She has just recently become a user and is excited about learning.  You can expect her learning curve to be vertical.

Topics

As usual the beginning of the meeting was an open forum for members to talk to each other and exchange ideas and experiences.

Kyle Poole brought a colour GameBoy for everyone to look at.   Pretty futuristic little gizmo.  Even has an IR port.  Kyle, is as you all know, the creator of Kyle's Quest and Galactic Realms (his new one).  Kyle's site is located at http://www.kpoole.com/.  Kyle is still working on the CE ver whoops I said that bad acronym.  Sorry about that folks.

Karen Thompson was sporting a new carrying case for her Palm.   It was a blue neoprene case by exclusively for 3Com by Body GloveŽ.  She said, and I quote "it's the girliest one I could find."  The case was nice.  It had a couple of pockets inside and looked pretty stable.

It seems that both our PUG and our members are becoming internationally recognized.  TealPoint has placed our review of TealScript on their website.  Paul D'Auvergne assisted EVEdit development staff with a bug in their manyclip feature.  Paul also helped with Actioneer's desktop application.  Sean, Rob, Karen and others have assisted users from around the world with queries posted on our message board.  I think Rob has the distance record.  He helped a fellow in Canberra, Australia.  Kudos all around.   Keep up the good work and self promotion.

Sean mentioned My Little Buddy and cautioned everyone that it had crashed his PC when he put it on.  Not that he is giving it a bad review; he just doesn't want problems for anyone.  What a concerned Prez. we have.

During the meeting we took a little break and Geoff listed the "Top Ten Things That Sound Dirty At The Office But Aren't", and although it isn't Easter we went on an Easter egg hunt.  The Easter Egg and Taxi that appear on the screen when certain keystrokes are performed.  Silly, but fun.

Prizes

The prizes were determined by means of a blind draw from the garlic bread basket. The Grand prize was available to all and was done by knock out version of a blind... blah blah blah basket.
