Topic - Utilities

Well the topic for this month as you can see above is utilities, but much of the meeting was spent ogling over Sue and Peter Thomas' new Sony Clié.  Oooh we were a bit jealous I'll tell you.  The had all kinds of accessories as well; AC adapter, carrying case, audio adapter and USB cradle.  I would talk more about this, but I suspect that there will be a more informative meeting in the future.

There are utilities out there for just about every need.  More than can be discussed in one meeting.  To get going on some utilities you can press here or go to Palmgear.com and do a search on utilities.

Some utilities our members use:

Filez by Nosleep Software is a file manager application for Palm OS® handhelds. It allows users to view all files, edit their attributes, beam them, delete them, back them up, and more.  To learn more press here.

McFile is an application that allows one to perform operations on files contained on either a PalmOS device or on memory cards used with the device.  To learn more press here.

PrefMngr (Preference Manager) SAVES MEMORY by mapping all applications that use the Palm's preference database. It maps the preferences entries used by all applications and finds suspected orphan preferences. You can use PrefMngr either to clean orphan preferences or 'hidden' preferences which are used by several programs. Favourite preferences can be marked and deleted using one command without the need to scan all applications.

TimePal by UFP synchronises the time on the PalmPilot from your PC during a HotSync.  To learn more press here.

Datemate by MobiMate lets you have all your birthdays, anniversaries and any other events in one organized list.  To learn more press here.

Happydays by Jaemok Jeong will help you remember the birthdays and anniversaries of your friends and family members.  To learn more press here.

Battery Log by Chetan Rao will monitor the batteries in your handheld and give you an estimated date for their replacement, based on actual usage of your handheld. Features.  Want to learn more?  Click here.  This was also in the Hacks minutes, but it is a utility and the President like it so...
