Topics
Financial Applications

This month we discussed six financial applications, Ultrasoft Money, Personal Money Tracker, Pocket Money, AllMoney, Money Tender, and Money Manager.  Sean was able to demonstrate the Ultrasoft Money and Money Tender applications and Ernie spoke briefly about the Pocket Quicken application.

Ultrasoft Money:
... is essentially a portable version of Microsoft Money.  If you are a user of MS Money, then this is the one for you!  It allows you to set up new accounts and update account information, add categories and memorize transactions.  The Pocket Edition allows you to synchronize all your additions and changes with your desktop file in MS Money.  The HotSync options are quite versatile and gives you many options on what to sync and what not to sync.  Even if you are not an MS Money user, you can still use the Solo Edition of Ultrasoft Money.

Personal Money Tracker:
... offers reporting, reminders and overdraft alarms, multi-currency support and convenient synchronizing with CSV files.  For a complete list of features click here.

Pocket Money:
... tracks your finances quickly with the little effort. Features include reporting, conduits to Quicken, MS Money, running balances, etc.  For a complete list of features click here.

AllMoney:
... is a hierarchical PMT applications, which uses icons for clarity.  Features include user defined command macros, command buttons, etc.  For a complete list of features click here.

Money Tender:
... offers password support, future minimum balance, total assets, and balance at present.  For a complete list of features click here.

Money Manager:
... was the forerunner to shareware apps such as Pocket Quicken and Ultrasoft Money.  For more information click here.

Miscellaneous

Kenny Delaney was able to bring the new Palm m105 for everyone to look at.  It is essentially a Palm m100 with 8mb of memory.  This unit officially replaces the Palm IIIxe.  Kenny will also be doing a review of the new M10x case by Scribble.

The new Visor Edge was another hot topic.  This is a very thin unit, which has quite an appeal. They did a nice job at making the unit as slim as possible.  They did have to remove the Springboard slot, however, you can still make use of the modules with a slide-on Springboard slot.  There is a nice Flash applet that shows a 360° view on the Visor Edge Web page.  Some members were a little apprehensive about this new Visor for a few reasons.  First, it is not colour and, if you believe the rumours, Palm will have their colour Palm m505 very soon (with the new SD slots!).  Secondly, some of us didn't like the idea of having to attach the Springboard slot everytime you wanted to use a Springboard Module.
