Topic - Iambic Software
I trust that everyone had a good holiday season. It seems that one of our members cleaned up this Christmas. Pat Cooper got three Springboard modules (Backup module, Tiger Woods Golf, 8 Mb memory) and the game face for her Handspring Visor.
Each attending member received a copy of Handheld Computing magazine compliments of Handheld Media Group inc.
This month we had three applications from Iambic being demonstrated. Action Names, All Time, and Tiny Sheet, with copies of each to be won. Of course Iambic has other applications as well. AllMoney, ExpenseDirector, iambic Mail, iambic Reader and the iambic Reader Desktop Tools, SalesWarrior, and the TimeReporter 2000 family.
Action Names:
... is an advanced contact and schedule management application. Action Names integrates the date book, address and to do list allowing one to manage their contact list, schedule meeting, events, phone calls, to-dos with one application. Action Names supports colour, which will enable one to code their entries by colour for quicker reference. Pre-existing icons and those that you edit or create yourself can assist with schedule management. For a complete list of features click here.
All Time:
... is a compact and effective time and expense tracking application. Track your billable time, cost recoverable expenses, produce reports and comma-delimited files for export. Features include built-in filtering with options, rounding time, advanced overview, import/export to/from Date Book, and export to Memo Pad and Mail. For a complete list of features click here.
Tiny Sheet:
... is an advanced spreadsheet application. This product has been greatly improved since Iambic acquired it from its creator. A more stable and bug free application with features that rival Quicksheet make TinySheet a top rate application. TinySheet is a fully functional spreadsheet that can handle it all, ranging from simple tasks to sophisticated financial calculations. With the TinySheet conduit and Desktop Manager you can Hotsync with Excel. Supporting multiple sheets and more than 65,000 rows, auto-sizing, font sizes, colour, and more. Prizes
A development challenge was given to those who have won the Quartus Forth development application, but I think that anyone who wants to participate can do so. Right Sean? [Right, Rob!] As you might know, prizes are determined by means of a blind draw. Little pieces of paper with names are put into a basket each week and drawn one at a time. The challenge is to develop an application that replaces this manual task. Some of the basic features the app would need are:
- A database of participating members that can be checked as they arrive at the meeting
- The ability to add the list of prizes to be won at the meeting.
- Have the program randomly choose the winner.
- Allow the user to link the winner to the chosen prize and remove the winner from the drawings for the day.
- BONUS: allow for exporting the winners/prizes to memo pad when complete.
It is unknown at this time what prize will be awarded for providing the best application for this job, but I [Sean] will try to make it a good one. Some suggestions on what you think the prize should be will be considered. Please e-mail me (sean.evans@canadapug.com) if you have any suggestions.
