Topic - Security

Securing your Palm OS device

Securing the handheld device it self is a personal matter.  Some people like the quick access aspect of the Palm OS devices.  One could even say that is why they got one in the first place.  However, the same quick access method can also allow others to access your information as well.  Protection for the device can bring peace of mind knowing that your device is tamper proof.  The software programs listed below offer a wide range of security for your device.  Some maintain that quick access mentality whilst others take a more tamper proof approach.  The type of security is up to the individual.

EasyLock by dseifert software production.  EasyLock uses a very simple one or two button login method to access the Palm device at power on.  To learn more press here

GridLock by PDA Business.  GridLock uses a simple 5x5 grid of squares to represent a unique pattern that is used to access the Palm device.  To learn more press here.

JotLoc by PDA Business.  JotLoc uses a picture or "Jot" to act as the pass code to accessing the Palm device.  To learn more press here.

OneTouchPass by Softava.  OneTouchPass uses an image that you set touch points on to access the Palm device.  To learn more press here.

PDA Defence by Asynchrony.  PDA Defence is one of the most comprehensive security applications for the Palm OS.  To learn more press here.

Securing your data

Securing one's data has become an important aspect to the handheld community.  The software programs listed below, which is a small subset of what is out there, all provide security for your personal/work related information.  Things like passwords, account information, credit card numbers, financial data, personal identification numbers (PINs), and your on-line banking transaction numbers can all be stored.

eWallet by Ilium Software.  eWallet uses the industry standard 128-bit key RC4 encryption for its software encryption.  To learn more press here.

Cloak by Chapura Inc.  Cloak uses the 128-bit Blowfish encryption algorithm.  To learn more press here.

CryptInfo by Norm Soft.  CryptInfo uses the 168-bit 3DES encryption algorithm.  To learn more press here.

PasswordWallet by Selznick Scientific Software.  PasswordWallet uses 448-bit BlowFish encryption.  To learn more press here.

Secret 2.7 by Link Soft .  Secret uses the 128 IDEA encryption algorithm.   To learn more press here.

SplashID by splashdata.  SplashID uses Blowfish encryption.  To learn more press here.

Everyone who attended a February meeting was given the opportunity to receive OnlyMe.  OnlyMe by Tranzoa automatically locks your PalmPilot™ whenever the device is turned off.  Entering your OnlyMe password can be as easy as making one quick gesture with your stylus or finger. And your device returns to the state you left it in.  For complete details click here.
